Meditative Mosaics

Role: Designer
Where: National Children's Museum
Tools: Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, Glowforge Laser Cutter

What are Meditative Mosaics?

Meditative Mosaics are an activity at the National Children's Museum created by myself and Langley Lease during my internship there. With Meditative Mosaics, visitors can create art and pictures through sticking felt pieces on the wall. Meditative Mosaics were part of a larger initiative by myself and the museum to further improve our sensory room space.

How they are made

Meditative Mosaics are felt pieces designed in Procreate & Adobe Illustrator and laser cut using a Glowforge. The point of Meditative Mosaics is to provide a sensory experience for children who may feel stressed or overwhelmed in their current environment.

Nature Motifs

One of the motifs of Meditative Mosaics is nature. Many of the cut outs are more natural shapes. This is to provide a calming effect coupled with the natures themes of other portions of the sensory space.
